App Information
** This web application is part of research project of F F **
How to Use this web app?
Simply upload the clear thermal image you want, ideally just the area that has the subject of interest.
The application will display the original thermal image and generate a 3D surface plot representing temperature variations.
What is Thermal Image?
Thermal imaging functions on the principle that all objects emit infrared radiation proportional to their temperature.
This type of energy, invisible to the human eye, can be recognised and converted into a visual representation by a thermal imaging device.
The thermal camera, fitted with an infrared sensor, detects the infrared radiation generated by objects within its range of vision.
The acquired radiation data is subsequently processed by the thermal camera's integrated software.
Infrared energy is focused on thousands of pixels arranged as a grid using an optical system with a detector sensor chip.
The thermal camera's inbuilt software converts the data into a thermal image depicting variation of temperature change variations of the captured scene.
Each temperature value is generally assigned a distinctive colour. Typically, warmer areas are shown in red, whereas cooler areas are depicted in blue.
Thermal image can also be in grayscale as well.
Thermal Image Quality
Thermal Image quality is affected by various factors.
Following points should be kept in mind to get better quality thermal image.
- Choose a highers detector(thermal/IR) resolution thermal imaging camera.
- Focus to avoid blurry image.
- Field of view for closer sharp image of point of interest.
- For smaller targets adequate camera distance from object.
- Check environment and adequate range to capture temprature variation.
